King Khalid was as uncompromising and fearless as a warrior as he was generous. First, he lost his beloved brother the late King Faisal and then, he was confronted with Juhayman and his armed group who overtook the Grand Mosque in a cowardly attack. In both events, King Khalid was a solid and strong man. He worked on managing, caring, ruling and ensuring the safety, security and prosperity of his nation wisely and deliberately. In spite of the takeover of the Grand Mosque, he never thought of transforming the government into an oppressive regime to punish the guilty.
Instead, he continued developing, upgrading and supporting the country's endeavors towards modernization. He never allowed such crises to sway him from the needs and aspirations of his nation. As a result, new education, health and housing schemes became tangible examples of the King’s unswerving devotion to providing better opportunities to every Saudi, including opening up new horizons to new graduates from the various educational and training institutions. In spite of regional conflicts and clashes, King Khalid continued on his course with an aim of ensuring sustainable development and completion of the infrastructure projects. These are just few examples to highlight that King Khalid was a true statesman.
